Life Coach - Be Your Own- 4

Time Management
This reflection gives you a way to switch between your logical and creative minds at whatever time you may need it. Your time line is an imaginary line. Created in your mind, this gives you the freedom to change your time line whenever you feel the need to change it.
Timeline reflection
Close your eyes.
Take in a deep breath and let it out slowly.
Take in a deep breath and let it out slowly.
Take in another deep breath and let it out with a sigh.
Bring your breath back to your normal rhythm
Imagine your timeline.
Where is your timeline?
Check in which direction your past timeline goes.
Check in which direction your future timeline goes.
Imagine a line connecting the two.
Orientate yourself so that you are on the line facing toward the future.
What does the future look like?
How far does it seem to extend?
If you feel it does not extend far enough or it is too long.
See yourself manipulating it to be the correct length.
Allow yourself to experience the timeline at a comfortable length that you can see the events of the future clearly, so that it makes planning easy.
Look back along your timeline toward the past.
What does it look like?
How far does it seem to extend?
If you feel it does not extend far enough or it is too long.
See yourself manipulating it to be the correct length.
Allow yourself to experience the timeline at a comfortable length that you can see the events of the past clearly, so that it allows for ease of memory.
Step off the timeline and face it square on.
Now you are through time in a Meta position to your timeline.
What do you think about your timeline?
What can you learn from it?
Step back onto your timeline.
Walk back into the past, noticing powerful resourceful memories as you go.
Stop when you feel you have gone far enough.
Walk forward, bringing those powerful experiences and resources with you into the present, like a presence from the past.
How does that feel?
Think of a future outcome that you want.
Step into the future at the point when you want to have it.
Look back from that future point to the now and imagine the steps and stages that you would have to have gone through in order to get from then (now) to now (the future).
Come back to the present with that knowledge of how to achieve your outcome.
Find your own timeline.
As you look at your timeline, how does it help you understand how you think about the past and the future?
For example, someone who has a short past timeline will have to cram many events into a short space and may have difficulty remembering exactly how long ago something happened.
Someone with a short future timeline may have problems looking far into the future, or may cram the future into a short space and lose perspective. (The length of your future timeline has no esoteric connection with how long you live. If it is short, it only means that you may find it difficult to future plan.)
Your timeline was not fixed forever at birth. You create it. You can change it. Aim for choice and flexibility – you will want to be in time for many pleasurable activities, but through time for planning activities in the future.
Whether you are through time or in time, experiment with both as follows.
Imagine stepping onto your timeline
If you are through time, imagine stepping onto your timeline so it passes through the center of your body. How does that feel? You may feel more grounded, more in the moment. Now step out again.
If you are in time, imagine stepping off your timeline and seeing it pass outside your body. You may feel a little more objective, a little more able to take an overview. Then step on again.
You have the choice. Being in time or through time are states and resources, depending on what you want to do.

Angela  – “I found it difficult to plan ahead, it felt like tomorrow and today is the same day and further forward was too close to see. I then did the timeline reflection and straightened and stretched my timeline to be more comfortable. I now realize that I felt like something was holding me back because my timeline to the future was very short. When I checked the past timeline this was short as well. I can now make plans for the future without feeling cramped in.”
